Description
Sumac is bright with ripe red fruit and citrus, curiously layered over a soft haze of smoke and earth and grounded in deep botanical tones. It’s vivid over ice, shines with bubbles, and works beautifully as the backbone of a serious cocktail.
Complex, lush, and versatile, Sumac carries a natural ruby hue that rewards both simplicity and craft. Drinkers familiar with similarly hued spirits like Campari, Aperol, or Cappelletti may recognize echoes of those profiles in Sumac. It can step into many recipes that call for those spirits, and its similar botanicals make it at home wherever an aperitivo works—but it isn’t a dupe.
Sumac is technically an amaro, a Rabarbaro to be specific: it sits in conversation with that tradition while standing distinctly on its own. Sumac also pairs easily with bright spirits like gin, vodka, or tequila to create unique cocktails fit for any bar program or home mixologist, boozy or booze-free.
Formulated with pregnant drinkers in mind, Sumac leaves out botanicals often found in traditional Rabarbaro-style amari that many people are advised to avoid during pregnancy.
