As a late-diagnosed autistic person with debilitating ADHD and OCD, quitting drinking again was the best thing I've ever done for myself, just a few weeks after turning 40 during lockdown. I got really into nonalcoholic spirits and wanted to try them all. Juan quit shortly after I did and we haven't looked back. It's done wonders for our mental health and for our relationship.
I spent my 20's and 30's working in retail and as a raw and vegan chef while teaching yoga and fitness classes in the evenings. Before I opened Minus Moonshine, I worked as an optician. I would quit drinking off and on because I love being healthy and feeling good... but I'm also a musician, songwriter, producer, and vocalist, which means the alcohol was free-flowing at shows, during practice, and in the studio. Before the pandemic I fronted a Brooklyn-based band called Common Ancestors. I now make music solo under the name Doctor God and just started a new project with my old bandmate called Dude Positive. I've always been a "three beverages at a time" person and can't get enough of fizzy drinks, which I swear (there must be some science behind this) help me focus while mixing songs.
Juan joined me a year into this venture after leaving his longtime job managing a warehouse for a small e-comm business. Prior to that he was a fashion photographer, which translates into, "okay, you're in charge of our social media." He knows most of the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC dances, so we love when he volunteers to dance on TikTok. He's also a walking encyclopedia of non-alc beverage facts and our COO/Store Manager. If you have questions about our products, he's the best guy to ask! If you've received a package from us, he probably packed it!
